In recent years, supported by abundant coal, natural gas, and unique plant resources, the fine chemical industry cluster in Northwest China has been rapidly emerging, becoming a new growth engine for the development of China’s fine chemical industry.
As the core hub of the fine chemical industry in Northwest China, the Specialized and Innovative Industrial Park in Lanzhou New Area has introduced a series of targeted support policies. These policies provide R&D subsidies of up to RMB 5 million, three consecutive years of tax reductions and exemptions, as well as comprehensive support services including talent apartments and logistics infrastructure for resident enterprises.
As of the first quarter of 2026, the park has attracted 37 fine chemical enterprises, covering multiple specialized sectors such as pharmaceutical intermediates, fragrances and flavors, and agrochemicals. A complete industrial chain has gradually taken shape, ranging from raw material processing to high-end customized production. In 2025, the park’s total industrial output value exceeded RMB 4.5 billion.
A representative of the park’s administrative committee stated:
“We will continue to improve the supporting industrial chain and build collaborative platforms integrating industry, academia, and research. Our goal is to attract more high-quality fine chemical enterprises and strive to develop the park into a leading fine chemical industry hub in China by 2030.”
At present, the park is advancing the construction of a Public Utility Island project with a total investment of RMB 2 billion. Once completed, it will provide integrated services for resident enterprises, including centralized heating, wastewater treatment, and hazardous chemical storage, further reducing operational costs for companies within the park.
