According to the latest “2026–2030 China Cooling Agent Industry Development White Paper” released by the authoritative domestic chemical industry research organization Fine Chemical Industry Insights, China’s cooling agent market is experiencing rapid growth, driven by the fast development of downstream industries such as cosmetics, oral care, and food & beverages.
In 2025, the market size reached RMB 1.67 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 18.3%. It is projected that the market will surpass RMB 2 billion in 2026, continuing its strong growth momentum.
The white paper notes that China’s cooling agent market is currently undergoing a transition from traditional synthetic products to natural plant-derived alternatives. Over the past five years, the market share of natural plant-extracted cooling agents has increased from 21% to 42%, with natural raw materials such as peppermint, spearmint, and eucalyptus becoming key focuses of industry research and development.
At the same time, as consumers place greater emphasis on product safety, the demand for low-irritation and long-lasting cooling agents continues to rise. New-generation cooling agents such as L-menthyl lactate and PCA menthyl ester have achieved annual growth rates exceeding 35%.
Industry experts note that the future development of the cooling agent industry will move toward functional integration. Multifunctional cooling agents that combine cooling, moisturizing, antioxidant, and other benefits are expected to become the mainstream of the market. Companies with strong independent R&D capabilities and advantages in raw material resources will gain greater opportunities for growth and development.
